GABIONS

Gabions are hexagonal galvanized wire fabric cages, filled with stone to form stretchy, porous, monolithic structures for earth preservation. Gabion structures can be built economically with swiftness in all situations and are particularly appropriate for landslide control in rugged hilly terrains and in areas with poor ground conditions. Where ground condition is not adequately settled and concrete walls are prone to get deformed and eventually collapse, gabions are the only solution because of its distinct structural advantages. They are also aesthetically more appealing than concrete non-porous wall structures. They also offer inimitable landscaping potential as well. Being very simple to install, the cost is kept to a minimum, compared to masonry or reinforced concrete, and the finished result is often very visually pleasing. The life expectancy of gabions depends on the lifespan of the Galvanized steel wire or its PVC coated variant and has been estimated to survive for 60 years and above. Gabion Wires coating options Heavy Galvanized 99.99% pure Zinc coating Hot dip galvanized heavy Zinc coating ensures better corrosion resistance for base steel and any cut edges. The thickness of Zinc coating comes between 260 GSM to 290 GSM as per relevant product standard. Poly Vinyl (PVC) coating on heavy galvanized wire PVC coated wires are proved to prevent corrosion with greater ability. PVC coated wire gabions are best suitable for humid, salty, marine or polluted environments. Applications: Retaining Wall Structures. Erosion Control Coastal & River Embankment Works Scour Protection Highways & Bridges Hydraulic structures, dams and culverts Rock fall and soil erosion protection

Advantages:
1. These are simple and rapid construction procedures and do not require large construction equipment.
2. They do not require experienced craftsmen with special skills of construction.
3. They require less site preparations.
4. They need less space in front of the structure for construction operations.
5. They do not need rigid, unyielding foundation support because gabion structures are tolerant to deformations.
6. They are technically feasible to heights in excess of 25 meter (80 feet).
7. They are cost effective.
8. They blend with the environment as silt and vegetation will collect within the net.
9. Gabion structures are virtually maintenance free
10. Upon completion gabion structures take full load immediately unlike retaining walls.
11. Interstitial spaces in the stone filled within the baskets provide a great degree of permeability throughout the structure eliminating the need for a drainage system and preventing buildup of hydrostatic pressure which will displace and crack concrete structures.

BARBED WIRE

Barbed wire, also known as barb wire, less often bob wire or bobbed wire, is a type of galvanised iron fencing wire constructed with sharp edges of points arranged at intervals along the strand(s). It is used to construct inexpensive fences and is used atop walls surrounding secured property. It is basically a wire obstacle with fortification feature. A person or animal trying to pass through or over barbed wire will suffer discomfort and possibly injury. Barbed wire fencing requires only fence posts, wire, and fixing devices such as staples. It is simple to construct and quick to erect, even by an unskilled person. Barbed wire plays an important role in the protection of boundary rights and also is a standard fencing technology for enclosing cattle in most places. The wire is aligned under tension between heavy, braced, fence posts (strainer posts) and then held at the correct height by being attached to wooden or steel fence posts. Barbed wire for agricultural fencing is typically a mild-steel wire with high-tensile which is galvanized for longevity. High tensile wire is made with thinner but high-strength steel. Its greater strength makes fences longer lasting because it resists stretching and loosening better, coping with expansion and contraction caused by heat and animal pressure by stretching and relaxing within wider elastic limits.

A variant of Barbed Wire is Razor barbed wire which is a new kind of protective fencing with advantages from the perspective of appearance, convenience and cost and practicality. It is widely used primarily in high security establishments. It also can be used as the protection netting in industry, agriculture, animal husbandry, dwelling house, plantation or fencing boundary, railway, highway, etc.

ROCK FALL NETTING

Rockfall nets are woven in the same design as gabions which is unrolled or "draped," over rocky slopes and secured with anchor bolts preventing rocks and debris injuring persons or properties at foothills. If desired, the mesh can be secured both at the top of the slope and at the foot of the slope with high strength cables. At times the lower cable can be loosened, in order that the collected debris is removed safely.

GABION MATTRESSES

Mattresses, like gabions, are wire fabric uniformly partitioned containers and are a specialized form of gabion which are mattress shaped, in that they have a relatively larger size and shallower depth. They are filled with stones at the site of use and their primary use is in protecting sea walls, river banks and bed of watercourses from excessive scour and they aim to prevent the water ripping up its own bed, most commonly at waterfalls and other places where there is a sudden change in water level. To preserve their fragile ecology and to arrest the pernicious effects of soil erosion, degraded areas needs to be tackled by reducing the velocity of water flow in streams and rivulets. Mattresses are relatively small in height in relation to the lateral dimension of a gabion and have the same qualities are generally found in gabions in terms of flexibility, permeability and strength and enhanced durability as structure collects soil and the airborne or water borne seeds generate plant life. This vegetation provides a very natural environment and enhance the efficiency of the gabion mattress structures as the vegetation contributes to soil stabilisation.

CHAIN LINK FENCE

Made from G I Wire with or without PVC coating which is interwoven as to provide continuous mesh without knots or ties, the popularity of chain-link fence is due to its relatively low cost and ease of installation. Another advantage of chain link fencing is that due to its inherent open weave design, they are transparent and do not obscure sunlight from either side of the fence. Chain link fencing is extensively used as entrance deterrence fence. Road Fencing Links is used to prevent the unwanted access of animals, people & vehicles in bounded area. This is a most economical concept in modern fencing. Angled iron posts, pipe posts or wooden poles containing chain link fencing fabric can be easily fitted and mounted.

The installation of chain-link fence involves setting posts into the ground and attaching the fence to them. The posts may be steel tubing, timber or concrete and may be drived into the ground or set in concrete. Corner or terminal posts are set in concrete footing or otherwise anchored to prevent leaning under the tension of a stretched fence. Posts set between the terminal posts are termed as line posts and are set at intervals exceeding 10 feet. The fence is tied to the line posts with a bottom tension wire referred to as "coil wire".

CONCERTINA

Concertina wire or Dannert Wire is a type of razor wire that is formed in large coils which can be expanded like a concertina. Concertina Coil, Punched tape concertina coil, concertina wire or concertina razor barded tape is one of the best and reliable wire fencing for security and unauthorized entry is restricted such as Airport, defence establishment, border security and industries. It is purposefully provided above the wall thus if a person attempts to pass through will injure or cannot cross over. Generally concertina coil attached to sharp razor is provided above the wall or supported with horizontal wires, at least 2.5 meter above the existing ground level to make it difficult for a person or animal to cross over easily. Concertina coils include single, double, and across sprial shaped coils which form continuous spiral razor wire. The coils are collapsible for easy transportation, and can be easily retracted and stored vertically or horizontally. Concertina fencing has great anticlimb property and is strong, durable and corrosion resistant.
